This blog is intended to follow the progress of a new member of the historical miniatures wargaming hobby. I’m starting from the beginning, from buying rules, painting models, making terrain, and (hopefully soon) playing the first game. Along the way, expect ruminations on the hobby and maybe even some light philosophizing. My goals are to collect and distribute hints and tips about wargaming as well as drum up some interest and opponents in the hobby in my fair state.
I’m a (very) non-traditional architecture student, after a first career as a land surveyor. Expect comparisons of the wildly differing worlds of wargame modeling and architectural modeling.
Personal details? Thanks for asking. I’m white, male, in my early 40s and a life-long nerd. My nerd background has largely been centered in a plethora of RPGs, with brief, though regular, forays into board games of various sorts.
Other interests include rocking out on the electric guitar, bluegrassing out on the mandolin, and other, more usual, things like reading, movies, and the eating of food.

Do you know of a place in nwa that sells Perry miniatures?
I wish! There’s a shop in Tulsa that carries Victrix plastics, which are a pretty good match for Perry napoleonics, but that is about it.
I order direct from Perry in the UK. The prices on their website include VAT tax, which doesn’t apply to orders in the US. By the time international shipping is applied it comes out beey close to the list prices on their website.
You can also order from Architects of War or The Warstore (its one or the other-can’t remember which) in the USA, but, understandably, they dont keep the entire range in stock.
Hi, just wanted to let you know about our small historical miniatures gaming club in Northeast Oklahoma (Tulsa area). You can follow some of our games on “The Peninsular War in 15mm” blog.
Hi Cal-thanks for stopping by. I met a fellow from Tulsa at Recruits. Jamie was his first name, but I can’t remember his last name at the moment. Nice guy! Thoroughly trounced me in a 10mm Wilson’s Creek Fire and Fury game.
I’ll check out that blog!

Hi, I really like the cards you made a while ago for IABSM. I tried the link to dropbox but it wasn’t working anymore. Are they still available?
Thank you,
Jan
Hi Jan! I’m sorry, but I think those cards may be lost to the sands of time. I don’t have the original files anymore, either. My apologies!
